What's the catch?
The 5% AER rate is only payable on balances up to £2,000, any amount greater than this will attract interest at a rate of 0.1% AER. Additionally, after the first year the rate of interest payable on in-credit balances will drop to 1% AER.
Similarly, after 12 months a fee of 50p per day (up to a maximum of £5 a month) will be charged for use of any authorised overdraft so this is something that you will need to take into consideration when deciding if this is the right account for you.
